- Dream World, 17h30 –
Willing to exit the theme park, Renata and I followed a queue of people thinking they all were directing to leave the park. Oddly, they were all well dressed. We soon realized that they weren’t going to the exit of Dream World but to the Big Brother’s weekly show
- Do you really think we will be able to enter that easy in the Big Brother show ?
- Hmmm, no but let’s try we never know !
[Flashback on]
- Brisbane, 9h30 –
We were supposed to meet at 9h20. Nevertheless, at 9h28 Renata was still missing. So alarmed I called her to know what was the problem
- Where are you ?
- I’m at the train station !
- Really ? Me too but I can’t see you… Are you in Central Station in the middle of the city ?
- Oups… No I’m in South Brisbane station
So after 30 min of walking I finally found that “Central station”. I’d never been there and I was quite impressed by how big it was. However we finally met and took the next train direction Coomera. We were both tired and it was difficult to stay awake. At destination a gentle kind of cow boy welcomed us.
The voucher from Drew (the activities administrator from EF school) worked pretty well, we were able to enter without problem. The place was quite big and we had a lot to do. We began with a small roller coaster (but maybe I’m getting blazed) called Cyclone. Result was 20min of wait for 30sec of ride. Nothing really interesting, no real sensation.
After that little deception, we tried The Claws, a attraction that we begin to see in the wine fest in Neuchatel but I never really tried. Hopefully it was really good ! During the day we made it 4 times with always the same good feeling. You really feel like you’re flying, each times I had tears because the wind speed. As I am tall, I could see the entire circle and there was a beautiful scenery of the whole theme park.
After we made The Vortex, a turning UFO which stick you down to the wall. Some brave children even tried to be “upside down”, but sadly I couldn’t there was not enough space to do it. But it was really difficult to pull out my head from the wall. At the end we were both feeling dizzy but nothing could stop us ! So we jumped on the Wipeout which is also present in the wine fest. The funny thing is that it was actually slow ! You just felt like a potato, shaken in every direction.
Next one was Renata’s favorite and actually the one which gave us the most adrenaline. It is called the Giant Drop. It is said to be the tallest drop lift of the world according to the Guinness Book (I have a picture, I will try to scan it). They lift you to 120m and you can see the whole Gold Coast, that’s just wonderful. But I wasn’t really admiring the scenery, I was more thinking of when it will fall. My heart was bumping like crazy. My mother would have fainted in this one ! Suddenly your hear the click of the lock opening and you literally fall down, excellent !
After that I suppose we needed a refreshing because Renata really wanted to do a log ride. You know, the one where you are totally wet at the end. And I’m not kidding, there was like 5cm at the bottom of the log and a big wave hitted me at the end, hopefully I was smart enough to put my bag behind me to secure it from the water. We followed the “Wet thing” to do the rapids ride in a big tire. We were able to skip half of the queue because we were only two and there was two slots free in a ride We rode with 4 Japanese really nice. Hopefully for them, I noticed that the woman was trying to film the whole thing with the cap in front of the camera !
We were really hungry so we took a short break and tried one of the three only restaurant which was a pain to my (our) wallet ! The food was not really good, so I recommend to the next visitors to take a pick nick.
To digest, we watched the tiger show with a beautiful and enormous white tiger. They showed how a tiger can jump to catch a bird and it was quite impressive, they are able to jump something like 3m high ! They also made the white tiger climb a pole which seemed to be easy for him.
Renata was really afraid to do the Tower Of Terror, this attraction was doing the same noise as a F/A 18 and as a airbase fireman, I can assure you this is true. Hopefully I will get the video from Renata’s camera before she goes back to Brazil… Involuntarily, I made her believe it was a ghost train so she wasn’t afraid at all. It’s just before starting the ride that she realized it was the noisy wagon which climbed the tower where the Giant Drop is (which means vertically climb and fall backward at very uncommon speed =220 Km/h in seven seconds). It was really exciting but also really short. With a bit of luck, the noise covered Renata’s scream ah ah ah
The sun was starting to set, we didn’t have so much time left so we made a sort of gold mine wagon roller coaster. It was really small for us. The turns were really violent and each time Renata was bumping to my shoulder… ouch !
[Flashback off]
- Sorry, do we have to buy tickets to watch Big Brother’s show ?
- Yes, of course ! What were you thinking ?
So yes, we were close to see them, we even saw the place where the show was turned but sadly no places for us so we returned to the exit. There, we saw the queue of the people who were coming to see the show, it was something like one kilometer long ! I’m quite surprised by the popularity of BB6, it was starting at 19 o’clock and the queue was already waiting at 17h30 ! Incredible…
I hope my story was interesting even if it was a little bit long. For more information, go and look the Dream World’s website. The translation in French will come tomorrow. (Lire la suite…)
